Cab signalling

From April 2002 (test operation started in May 2000) until November 2003 the section between Zofingen and Sempach (part of the connection Olten - Luzern) has been operated with cab signalling according ETCS level 2. Line side signals were not in use. There were only stopping marker boards (which are obviously adopted from France).

(ETCS = European train control system)

Note: The names I use are not official.

Halteort Führerstandssignalisierung

Stopping marker board for cab signalling.
Triangle points to the belonging track. The boards can be mounted directly on the ground if there is lack of space (e.g. between tracks).

This board arrangement shows the beginning of a station.
Above the section marker there is the name plate of the station (here »Ss« = »Sursee«). The board labeled »A11« is simply the name plate of the »entry signal« (it's the same as is used on real signals).
