Most boards and indicators shown here have no relevance for the engine driver but are directed to other railway employees. Some of them are even not part of the rule book.
These indicators inform the personnel on the platform about forthcoming train movements. They are usually mounted beneath the platform roofs. They are called »zeppelin« because of their shape (if one looks from aside).

On the Bernina line yellow boards are used to mark obstacles for snow ploughs. The number shows the distance from the middle of the track to the obstacle in steps of 10 centimetres (e.g. 18 = 1.8 m). |
