Head light (Zugspitzensignal)
The peak of a train is marked by three lights arranged in the form of the uppercase letter »A«.

Tail light (Zugschlusssignal)
Flashing light is used in order to save battery power. Carriages with built in tail lights show one or two steady red lights.

Danger (Warnsignal)
Used on double track lines to warn counter trains. They have to stop immideately.


	Normal train.
	Train with assisting locomotive (there is a driver on each engine). All locomotives show one white back light.
	Double headed train (one driver operates all engines). Only the last engine shows a white back light.
	Banking locomotive.
	Not coupled banking locomotive.

	Shunting movements in the station Black board labeled »V« marks the »forward« direction. At night the two lower white lights on both sides are switched on.
	Shunting movements on the open line Two lights on the front side of the loco, one light on the back side.

Preheating board (Vorheiztafel)
The carriages are connected to a stationary power supply or an unmanned locomotive (for preheating or air-conditioning). In this case it is not allowed to connect or disconnect plugs of the carriage's electric heating line (Zugsammelschiene).

Drag shoe warning (Hemmschuhwarntafel)
Vehicles are secured by drag shoes. The board is attached on the coupling hook.

Stop (before the vehicle) (Halt [vor dem Fahrzeug])
It's not allowed to drive against this vehicle.

Mail car is occupied by personnel (Bahnpostwagen ist mit Personal besetzt)
Inidication of occupied mail car. At night the mail car has to be illuminated from the inside.
